FAQs
What are hand tied hair extensions?
Hand tied hair extensions are lengths of loose hair that are tied by hand into wefts. These should not be confused with machine tied wefts, which are similar, but are sewn together by machine. Our hand-tied hair is double drawn and hand-sewn to perfection, and is the lightest of all of our hair.
There are many ways that hand tied can be attached to your natural hair, primarily by sewing and micro beads. “Beaded weft” or “sew-in” techniques are known for being the healthiest way to add a large amount of hair all at once, and they are the best long-term technique for dramatic transformations in length and volume.
What is the difference between hand tied and genius weft?
Genius wefts are made by a machine (called “machine wefts”), and our Genius Wefts are the thinnest-band machine wefts on the market! They have a tiny band holding all of the stands together and, because of this band, genius wefts can be cut! Also, each individual strand is a little thicker than a hand-tied strand.
Hand-tied wefts are made by hand and have no band, and can therefore, not be cut! These stands tend to be thinner and lend themselves better to a more natural looks.
How does the extension process work?
At Trust and Mane Extensions, we are comfortable with walking you through your first time with hand tied hair extensions. We start with a free consultation where we listen to your hair goals, and come up with a solution together that helps you achieve them. During the consultation, we will find the exact match for your hair color, length, and texture. Once we decide on a plan, we will make your extension appointment and require pre-payment to order your hair extensions. When your appointment date arrives, we will prep your hair and begin installing the extensions to your existing hair. Our custom installation technique is adapted to your specific hair type, density, situation, and desires. We usually finish with a cut and style, where you can finally see the amazing results!
How much do hand tied extensions cost?
Pricing for hand tied extensions varies based on the color, length, and amount of hair being installed. All inclusive prices can range anywhere from $500, to $800 or more. If you care for your hair well, you should be able to use the same packs of hair for 9 months, or more!
The MSRP for our hair is 15% higher than we charge our stylists. We sell exclusively to stylists at a discount so the stylist can charge their client at MSRP and make a little profit on the sale. You can apply to shop HERE.
What are the color options?
All of our wefts come in a variety of shades needed to create the most gorgeous mane; however, if you can’t find an exact match, all of our hair can be colored with high quality, permanent hair color.
Where do the hair extensions come from?
We craft our wefts from high-density virgin hair and use meticulous processes so you can deposit color quickly, lift to platinum without brassiness, and customize lengths with ease. We ethically source our hair from the Western regions of China where the women are fairly compensated for their hair. Human cuticle-intact hair means it is the highest quality and oriented in the same direction as your existing hair to prevent tangling. The technology that is used for aligning the cuticle is unique and keeps it fully intact, and all of the hair is colored with a special plant extract to insure no damage is done to the hair, leaving it feeling super silky and smooth. You can learn more about our hair HERE.
How are the curly ones curled and the wavy ones waved?
Both of our textured options, our Wavy Weft and Curly Weft, are steam infused. We are seeing that the curl pattern softens after 3 months of wear. To make the curl pattern stay healthier longer, we suggest avoiding extra washing. Dry shampoo is your curly wefts’ best friend!
How should I take care of my extensions?
To best care for your extensions, we recommend you shampoo once to twice a week with a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, use a deep treatment 1-2 times a month, and stay out of salt water and chlorine. Always protect during styling with a heat protector, wet or dry, and keep heat to a minimum (400 degrees or below) to keep them from drying out. To keep them extra hydrated, use a leave-in conditioner or light oil. We suggest using Olaplaex, which is a fantastic conditioner, to keep your hair and hair extensions looking smooth and healthy. For best results, sleep with a silk or satin pillow case and make sure that your hair is dry when you go to bed at night. A light braid at night is also an excellent idea! Brush with a Trust & Mane Extensions Brush in the morning, and ENJOY!
